Kangasniemi has excellent road connections. The cities of Mikkeli and Jyväskylä close by have airports with internal connections to Helsinki. For those without their own transport there is a good coach connection through the village of Laitiala which is about eight kilometres from Kangasniemi in the Joutsa direction on National Road 616.
